•POSITIF : S + V1 + O

•NEGATIVE : S + DO/DOES + NOT + V1 + O

•INTERROGATIVE : DO/DOES + S + V1 +O

V1 ditambah –s/es untuk subjek bentuk ketiga tunggal (he, she, it, atau kata yang dapat diganti dengan kata ganti “dia”.
Does untuk subjek bentuk ketiga tunggal, dan do untuk subjek selain bentuk ketiga tunggal.
Manakala menggunakan kata Tanya / question word (when, where, who, why, what, which, how), kata Tanya diletakkan sebelum auxiliary do/does.

PENGGUNAAN :

Simple present secara umum digunakan untuk :

1. Menginformasikan peristiwa yang terjadi kini atau belakangan ini
- Prabu studies at elementary school.
- Does your Father work here?
- I do not have any car.


2. Menyatakan suatu kebiasaan (habitual action) atau kegiatan yang terjadi berulang-ulang dan atau terus menerus.
- Prabu walks to school every day.
- Every night the watchman turns on all the light and walks around the building every half an hour.
- I go running three times a week.
- Do you take a bus to go to school?
- She does not go on foot to school.


3. Menyatakan kebenaran umum (general truth) yang biasanya tidak dibatasi oleh waktu seperti hukum fisika atau adat istiadat.

- Water freezes at 0˚ C.
- The sun rises in the east.
- The earth revolves around the sun.
- Sundanese shake hand when they meet.
- Mexicans take a ‘siesta’ after their mid day meal.
- Does water boil at 100˚ C?
- The sun does not evolve around the earth.


4. Membicarakan hal yang akan datang, dalam hal ini berkenaan dengan jadwal, program, acara, atau kegiatan lain yang terencana.

- I have a meeting next Wednesday at that time.
- We begin lesson next week.
- Our plane does not fly to Bandung tomorrow.
- What time does the film start?


5. Berfungsi sebagai anak kalimat untuk induk kalimat berpola future dan command / request (perintah).

6. Berfungsi sebagai anak kalimat dalam conditional type 1
